DESCRIPTION:
Alexander T. Willard, Ashby, Mass., tall clock, 30 hours, time and strike, weight driven, wooden works movement in a pine case with full columns and three chimneys on hood and painted wooden dial, c1810
CONDITION:
the case has lost its original painted surface, one hood chimney has been replaced and the fretwork and rear flanking boards are absent on hood. The left return moldings have broken pieces, but are present. The base has a split and part of the rear right leg is missing. The dial has some paint loss in the upper left corner. The seat board is a replacement (Ashby movement usually sat on two wood strips between uprights rather than a full seat board The hands and pendulum are replaced, but the weights are original. Ht 86"
